Canon Pixma MX Series Review – Successor to MP Series
Text by Richie Setiawan
Canon has always been one of the biggest names in the printing industry. Canon always tries to offer only the best quality with its product lineups from time to time. The MP series are one good example. A lot of huge corporations along with SOHOs have been using the MP series for quite a long time in order to help them with their business needs.
However, it seems like the MP series have been too long in service and it is time for their successors to begin their era. Canon understands this. Today, Canon is offering all its customers the new MX series with a pretty wide range of choices – MX308, MX320 and MX870 to name some of them – customers can choose according to their specific needs.
As with the previous MP series, the new MX series also play a role as multi-function printers. That being said, not only can the MX series print documents, they can also scan, copy and fax documents. Also, the good news is that customers will not have to spend too much money out of their budgets to get one of these MX series. Canon is offering them at considerably low prices.
The MX320, for example, already comes featuring multiple functions while offering cost-cutting as well. It is an all-in-one printer capable of printing, scanning, copying and faxing documents. It also features auto document feeder that can hold up to as many as 30 sheets all at the same time. With the MX320, professional corporations and individual customers alike can print 22 pages of black and white documents or 17 pages of color documents within just a short minute.
Another example that is quite interesting to check out as well is the MX870 series. For those who are willing to spend more money out of their budgets in order to get better quality or services, the MX870 series are quite recommendable.
The MX870 comes manufactured with an LCD – a big one measuring 2.5 inches in diagonal – along with memory card reader – which is very practical. Yet, the design is stylish, it outputs what it prints pretty fast and it also has an amazingly robust software suite to support all its functionalities user may obtain. Better yet, Canon is releasing the MX870 with an affordable price tag.
The MX870 seems sort of a combination of the MX7600 – for its functionalities – and the MX 330 – for its minimalist design. Only, the MX870 also features a Wi-Fi capability. The ability to print, scan, copy and fax documents and at the same time engage in wireless networking is something the MX870 can amazingly offer to customers all over the world. But there may be a drawback in that the printing output speed is often interfered by intermittent lags.
Fortunately, this drawback is wonderfully overcome by the printer’s various functionalities such as Auto Photo Fix II that automatically categorizes images to the type they belong to and optimally corrects the images, built-in Ethernet, Wi-Fi – as mentioned earlier, Super G3 Fax which is the standard of business fax, support for up to a hundred speed dials, 250 incoming pages, iPhone printing and still a lot to mention.
So, to top it off, the MX series from Canon is actually – overall – worth your money. They offer multiple functionalities instead of printing alone and the good thing is that they are offered for sale at pretty low prices.
