These days, the numbers of people that are looking for a laptop to assist their daily activities tend to keep on increasing. Well, there might be various factors related to this fact. To start it off, the prices of notebook PCs – that we often call laptops – are relatively cheap today. Thanks to laptops being pretty affordable and, of course, portable, it is sensible why people don’t want to bother using desktop PCs that are almost impossible to carry around. In addition to that, prestige often plays an important role as well when people are considering buying laptops.

However, due to ever increasing interest people have these days in laptops, manufacturers are producing a wide range of laptops for the customers to choose. As a result, people often get confused which laptop they should actually go for.

In that respect, Dell XPS L502X is one good choice. Dell has been manufacturing laptops for years and thus people can feel sure enough about the build quality Dell is able to provide. So, speaking of this XPS laptop, what can users expect?

Sandy Bridge CPU

To start it off, the XPS L502X from Dell comes powered with the Intel Core i7 2630QM (quad core) CPU. Powered with this 2nd generation Intel Core i series processor (also known as Sandy Bridge), multitasking won’t ever be a problem anymore. Besides, the CPU also comes with Intel Turbo Boost technology. That said, users can expect to have CPU clock ranging from 2.0 GHz up to 2.93 GHz.

Nvidia GeForce

Other laptops might also have GeForce built into them. However, the Dell XPS L502X comes with the latest GeForce generations. The Nvidia GeForce GT540M with 2GB dedicated VRAM, gaming is a piece of cake.

Another advantage with this latest generation GPU from Nvidia is that it comes with the Optimus technology. This technology enables the XPS laptop to save its power by using Intel HD built-in graphics processor when no applications are requiring high performance graphics.

High Capacity RAM

High performance CPU and GPU might be sufficient to run high performance applications. However, Dell is offering even more capabilities to its customers who purchase this superior laptop. Offering 2 memory slots, users can expect to have a maximum of 8GB RAM (4GB x 2) installed.

Face Recognition Webcam

Yes, that’s right. With the XPS L502X, users can have a higher level of peace of mind thanks to the webcam that is capable of recognizing the users’ face. Each time the users log onto their system, the 2.0MP webcam will keep the users’ face in its memory – with the help of the FastAccess application.

The webcam is also capable of following the movements of the users’ face. When users launch the Dell Webcam Central application, they will have the option to make the camera follow their face in 3 speed modes which are slow, normal and even fast.

High Capacity HDD & Blu-Ray Drive

When it comes to storing data, users will least likely complain thanks to the 640GB hard disk drive in place. Yet, if that’s not enough, users of the Dell XPS L502X will always have the option to burn their data onto either CD or DVD media thanks to the DVD/Blu-Ray combo drive.

It seems that Dell understands how important high clarity movies are to date. That is perhaps the reason this US manufacturer makes it possible for the users of their laptop to enjoy Blu-Ray movies – which have the highest clarity compared to other media formats.

LED Backlit Keyboard

When the XPS meets darkness, it won’t become useless as some other laptops will. Instead, the Dell XPS L502X will glow in the dark and satisfy its users thanks to the LED backlit keyboard it has. Users can also choose the level of lighting they want for their XPS keyboard.

Multi Gestures Touchpad

The next thing that is also quite remarkable about the XPS L502X is its touchpad which is capable of recognizing multiple gestures of the fingers. Zooming, flipping, and rotating are just a few of what users can do with the XPS touchpad.

Waves Maxxaudio3 or Creative X-Fi, Users Decide

When people buy the XPS L502X from Dell, they will be given access to 2 high quality audio technologies. For the best performance, it is recommended to use the Waves Maxxaudio3. However, for those who are more accustomed to the surround sound in most games, the X-Fi audio technology from Creative might be their best choice.

JBL Speakers and Subwoofer

Of course, high quality audio technologies will be nothing without high quality audio output devices. That’s why Dell has also equipped their XPS L502X with 2 JBL speakers accompanied by a subwoofer – that also comes from JBL.

15.6” Full HD Display

For the sake of users’ viewing enjoyment, Dell has not compromised with the display option. Featuring a full HD WLED display measuring 15.6 inches diagonally, users of the XPS will know what it’s like watching movies or playing games on a superior display device.

Better yet, by adding some money, users can expect to get touch panel display device with even more advanced technologies.

Other Features

Users of Dell XPS L502X are not likely going to be one of those outdated laptop users in any near future. This is possible thanks to all the latest technologies Dell has provided its XPS with. Featuring HDMI connection besides mini display port, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 3.0 + HS, and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, connections with other devices of whatsoever types won’t likely have any problems at all.

Also, when it comes to the software part, users will be granted access to genuine Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), Dell Stage, Roxio Creator Starter, Microsoft Office 2007 Starter, FastAccess (for face recognition, as mentioned earlier), PowerDVD 9 and a lot more to mention.

Conclusions

After all being said, the Dell XPS L502X is quite a good choice for those looking for a laptop. Besides its competitive price compared to other laptops of its class, the XPS features even more useful features that its rivals don’t.
