Grand Theft Auto V in Full Development Process
Text by Richie Setiawan

Developer Rockstar officially released information regarding Grand Theft Auto V.

On November 2, 2011, game developer Rockstar released the first official trailer of the Grand Theft Auto V, the successor to the GTA franchise which has cultivated a huge success for years in the international game industry.

Prior to releasing the trailer, Rockstar Games had actually announced that they would do so on November 2, 2011. As quoted from gtav.net, this is the official statement from the developer of the GTA franchise:
“We are very proud to officially announce that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.”

Following the release of the trailer, a lot of speculations regarding the game based on fans analysis have also emerged. The fans seem to work just as if they were a detective of some kind. Despite the short trailer duration of 1 minute and 25 seconds, the fans of the GTA franchise don’t seem to be willing to give up on digging more information regarding the latest installment to their most favorite game franchise of all time.

Seeing one of the in-game characters doing some yoga, some fans believe that yoga will be something they can expect while playing the title. In addition to that, they also believe that they will be able to dress their character or work on the character’s muscles, just like what they could do in GTA San Andreas.

Then, due to the appearance of a dog early in the trailer, some believe that animals will now enter the virtual world of GTA.

Cars are the next biggest speculation to exist. That’s quite sensible considering that without cars, the GTA franchise might not have been as big as it is today. It’s grand theft auto, after all. As always, the cars available in-game seem to be somewhat imaginary cars that the developer has thought of rather than some real world licensed vehicles. However, the unique thing seen in the trailer is that now, it seems that players can now either open or close the retractable roof of a convertible car, a feature they have never experienced before in this particular title.

However, one thing that seems to be certain is that the graphics quality in GTA V will be better compared to that of GTA IV. Yet, does this mean that the GTA fans on personal computer (PC) will have to upgrade their PC?

Well, hopefully not. Unfortunately, though, Rockstar hasn’t managed to reveal any information regarding the specifications for the PC version of the GTA V.

Also, rumor has it that GTA V will be released for some next generation consoles, such as Sony PlayStation 4.

Curious? Stay tuned for the latest updates! :)
