Honda to Shut Thailand Factory for 6 Months
Text by Richie Setiawan

Due to the flooding in Thailand, Honda has been forced to shut down its Thailand factory.

Unfortunately for Honda, it seems to be the only company affected by the floods. As quoted from the Japanese business daily, Nikkei, last Sunday, there seems to be no choice for the Japanese car manufacturer but to shut down its factory in Thailand. This is also predicted to contribute to a decrease of 3% in terms of car production by Honda.

Honda’s factory in the central Thailand has to be closed for an indefinite time due to the huge scale floods that started to hit Thailand not so long ago. Until today, there are no signs yet that the factory is about to restart.

Even worse, the floods have even cost Honda most of its facilities and equipments that they have to be replaced with new ones, as acknowledged by one of the executives for Honda in Thailand.

The executive for Honda in Thailand also added that with the Thailand factory being shut for half a year to come, a decrease of 100,000 units of cars is to be expected. Needless to say, this is very unfortunate considering how enthusiastic the global customers are when it comes to the cars produced by Honda.
