The Caterpillar Invasion
Text by Richie Setiawan
Since Thursday, March 24, 2011, the Probolinggo region -- situated at the province of the East Java, Indonesia -- has been suffering from a horrible caterpillar invasion. Until today, it is not yet known what has triggered this invasion. One thing that is for sure is that all the citizens in the area become afraid of going everywhere. The adults become worried when they need to go to work and the young children and teenagers are afraid to go to school. As a result, the school has declared a holiday for an undetermined period of time.
This makes very good sense for the school age children and teenagers taking into consideration that there are over thousands of caterpillars invading their school. They can see caterpillars crawling under their desks, on the walls and at a lot of other places.
SDN Kedawung 4 is one of the schools where a massive number of caterpillars can be spotted. There are caterpillars almost at every section of the school. The principal of the school, Titik Indahwati, admits that she is very surprised as such a thing has never happened before.
Due to such a pretty strange and horrible event of the caterpillar invasion, it is not recommended at all to take chances going to school in spite of the invasion. Needless to say, these thousands of caterpillars have really been interfering people's life in Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia.
