Tata Nano Recalled Due to Starter Issue
Text by Richie Setiawan
An Indian car manufacturer, Tata, is now facing double problems with its production car, the Tata Nano.
The Tata Nano is one of the city cars in the world that come with the most affordable price tags. However, unfortunately, Tata has to face double problems at once with this production car it manufactures.
Besides being unable to accomplish its sales target by quite an unbelievably high margin, the car is now facing another issue, a problematic starter. This makes it necessary to recall a total of 115,000 units of Tata Nano that have already been sold.
Nevertheless, for Tata, this is not a recall but rather an upgrade. According to the Indian car manufacturer, the problematic starter won’t necessarily lead to an accident and thus a recall is unnecessary. Tata also claims that, since October 2011, they have been in the process of contacting all owners of the older version of the Tata Nano, introduced in November 2009, to bring their car in and get the starter replaced with a new starter motor, like the one used in the newer version of the model which is introduced on November 21, 2011. According to Tata, 50 thousand owners have brought their car in and thus there’re only 65 thousand remaining to get their Nano serviced.
