Xbox 720 – Smaller and Cheaper
Text by Richie Setiawan
Could it really be the Xbox 720 is coming to us?
Well, nobody can accuse Microsoft of being so quiet about possibilities of their next generation video game console, the Xbox 720. However, MS Nerd, a very credible Microsoft leak blogger, has managed to leak quite a few crucial aspects regarding the console.
The so-called Xbox 720 will have a much smaller dimension compared to the current Xbox 360 model. Codenamed “loop”, this next generation console from Microsoft is very likely to be offered at a price tag much lower than the Xbox 360. This is intended to support Kinect adoption. In addition to that, it is rumored that this new gaming system will run a modified version of the Windows 9 operating system, which Microsoft has yet to announce.
MS Nerd also added that the hardware used in the Xbox 720 will be similar to that of the Zune HD. With that being said, users can expect the main processor to feature multiple cores dedicated to different parts of gaming such as physics, artificial intelligence (AI), graphics, sensors, sound, encryption and networking. Rumor has it Microsoft will be designing this entirely new video game console in collaboration with 2 other companies and that the system will be based on the ARM architecture.
Well, while we have no official clues from Microsoft on its possible Xbox 720, rumor has it the big company located on the Microsoft Way is likely to introduce this device at the coming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) next year.
