Samsung Unveils the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
The South Korean tech vendor, Samsung, has now officially unveiled its latest flagship devices, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Both smartphones come with glass and metal materials. At a glance, it will be rather hard to tell which of the devices is the regular S6 and which one is the S6 Edge. Thing is, they both come with similar physical design and even spec sheets.
Both the regular S6 and its Edge counterpart sport a 5.1-inch display panel. Only, for the S6 Edge, both sides of its display panel are curved. Well, this makes the device look a bit similar to the company’s Galaxy Note Edge smartphone. Another difference between the normal and Edge version of the company’s S5 successor is the battery capacity. The regular S6 smartphone is backed by a 2,550mAh battery whereas the Edge version gets its juice from a 2,600mAh battery. The battery is not removable thanks to the unibody design of the devices.
Unfortunately, though, unlike on the previous generation Samsung Galaxy S series smartphones, the S6 does not have any support for a microSD. There is no microSD slot to find anywhere on the model. However, the company does allow customers to choose whether they want to buy an S6 with 32GB, 64GB or 128GB internal storage capacity. Well, it seems that Samsung is trying to follow the footsteps of Apple here with its iPhone devices.
Both the standard and Edge variants of the Samsung Galaxy S6 should be pretty fast since they both use a 64-bit octa-core CPU consisting of a 2.1GHz quad-core CPU and a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU. In addition to that, the devices also has 3GB RAM. To be honest, though, this is rather unfortunate considering that the S6 should prove to be the high-end device of the future. Even the upcoming Xperia Z4 from Sony is rumored to have 4GB RAM in total.
Camera wise, the S6 still comes with a 16MP main camera. This camera is accompanied by a 5MP secondary camera on the front of the device. Samsung claims that the camera has been designed to have the optimum performance when it comes to snapping some photos.
Speaking of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the South Korean company has pointed out that sales of both devices will commence come April 10, 2015. Unfortunately, however, Samsung has yet to spill the beans on the price tag customers should expect.
